GoMag: October Pre-AQHA World Show Issue Online Now

The October 2020 issue proudly features teams who are preparing to head to Oklahoma City in November. Go check it out now.

Since GoMag first launched in 2008, the October issue has been dedicated to those attending the All-American Quarter Horse Congress. But, as everyone knows, the Congress was, unfortunately, canceled this year, leaving the AQHA World Show as the main focus for many this fall.

After the cancelation, like everyone in the horse industry, GoMag adjusted and the October 2020 issue of GoMag became the Pre-AQHA World Show issue. Our industry has held strong and we appreciate everyone who has continued down this uncharted road with us. The October 2020 issue proudly features teams who are preparing to head to Oklahoma City in November. One of these teams is 2019 NSBA Horse of the Year, VS GoodRide and Charlie Cole who are featured on the cover.

Featured on the October GoMag cover is VS GoodRide. This stunning bay roan stallion, affectionately known as “Boss” had an outstanding show season last year and culminated his year by being named the 2019 NSBA Horse of the Year.

“From the day he was foaled, we knew he was special,” Charlie Cole remembers. “He has all the qualities of a top horse; great movement, amazing temperament and exceptional looks.”

His owner, Brenda Gower was very appreciative of him being recognized for his many talents. “Boss was the first all-around horse to receive this annual award,” Gower told us. “Thank you to the tremendous team that came together to make this a reality.”

Last year, Boss won his first Congress Championship in the Maturity $10,000 Limited Horse Open Western Pleasure Stakes with Danny Desmond. He was also Reserve in the Junior Trail, Green Western Riding, and the Maturity Open $10,000 class.

At last year’s AQHA World Show, Boss placed third in the Junior Western Riding with Jason Martin. He and Jason were also Reserve Champions in the Level 1 Western Riding Stakes, and Boss was the Level 2 Western Riding Champion with Sara Simons and Level 2 Western Pleasure Champion with RJ King.

Looking to better his results from last year, VS GoodRide will be showing at the upcoming AQHA World Show in the Junior Western Riding and Trail with Charlie Cole.

VS GoodRide has also been busy in the breeding barn. His first foal crop will be turning two-years-old next year with 90 foals on the ground. “We are extremely excited to see these babies hit the show pen,” exclaimed Brenda. “One breeder’s filly won the longe line at a PQHA show and she also won the online Longe line class offered on the ’Virtual Horse Show’ Facebook page. She plans to head to the Tom Powers in December, so we wish her and the rest of the competing GoodRide babies the best of luck.”

VS GoodRide is offering an early booking discount of $500 off his 2021 breeding fee of $1,750 if booked before November 1, 2020 (cannot be combined with any other offer). This includes the chute fee, however shipping is extra. Please contact Christi Christensen with Highpoint Performance Horses at 903-816-1428 or via email at christi@highpointperformance.com.
