GoMag: September Fall Shows & APHA World Show Issue Online Now

You may be ready for a break from the heat, but the September issue of GoMag is still hot, hot, hot. Go check it out now.

Traditionally, the September issue of GoMag features those focusing on the All-American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio and the APHA Open/Amateur World Championship Show in Ft. Worth, Texas. But in a year filled with ups and downs, many things that were once considered traditional have been thrown out the window.

The Fall 2020 calendar looks very different than in the past; the Congress will not happen for the first time in 54 years, the APHA Youth will now compete alongside the Open and Amateur exhibitors at the APHA World Show, and potentially one of the biggest shows of the year will take place in Scottsdale, Arizona in September.

What has not changed in 2020 is our clients’ love and dedication to the horse industry, as well as our appreciation and gratitude for the exhibitors, trainers, owners and breeders who are busy preparing for an exciting remainder of the year. We continue to be humbled by our amazing advertisers and readers who recognize that GoHorseShow truly is…Where The Winners Go.

About the Cover

Jenna Tolson’s gorgeous APHA mare, TheFairestOfThemAll, is featured on the September cover of GoMag. Tolson talked about how this exceptional cover was created. “Once we had our date booked with Melissa (Baus) for pictures at the farm, I asked Alyse (Roberts) what she thought about doing pictures with Scarlett in her driving harness. She liked the idea and that’s really all that we had planned in advance. Melissa texted me a copy of the proof about a week later and my jaw dropped. We knew it was the perfect shot for a magazine cover.”

At the APHA World Show, Scarlett will be showing in the Amateur Pleasure Driving, Amateur Senior Hunter Under Saddle, Novice Amateur Showmanship, and Open Pleasure Driving.

Last year, this team won the Amateur Pleasure Driving at the NSBA World Show and also won the APHA World unanimously in the Amateur Pleasure Driving. “I’m still in disbelief something that amazing happened to me all in one year,” Tolson recalls.

Scarlett has quite the personality,” Jenna shares. “In her opinion, she is ‘royalty,’ which has earned her the moniker in the barn of ‘The Princess.’ She is smart as a whip. She loves people, loves being doted upon, but is ‘a mare’ with a strong opinion, about pretty much everything. Whenever Scarlett wants to be done showing, she’ll retire in one of Alyse’s pastures and have babies. She isn’t going anywhere.”

Tolson says she has enjoyed working with Alyse for the past six years. “She truly cares about the well being of the horses in her barn, always putting their longevity and mind first. She has incredible hands and feel, and her skills at navigating a horse through the show pen are second to no one. I always joke that when I grow up, I want to ride just like Alyse. It’ll never happen, but I sure want to.”

Jenna adds, “I am so grateful to be a part of the horse community and just be able to share a passion and common interest. It is like no other.”
