“We’ve been doing things like contests, virtual shows, APHA’s Horse-IQ, and other things to keep the members of the Michigan Paint Horse Club engaged while they are unable to show,” says Joe Mizzi, MPHC President, when we asked him why he started a podcast to interview people in the industry.
Mizzi explains how he picks the individuals to interview. “I just call friends and acquaintances that I’ve made over the years. I started with Shane Dowdy, and he suggested some other trainers. It just kind of snowballed. I came up with the idea from the Thoroughbred world. There are radio shows like those on Horse Racing Radio where they interview trainers and breeders. I thought it would be really helpful, especially now, for our members to get to peek behind the curtain and perhaps learn something that they can use to better their skills. Everybody has been so gracious and supportive, and I really appreciate it.”
