About the Cover

The August issue of GoMag features the stunning three-year-old black stallion, Makin Me Willy Wild, who is owned by Debbi Trubee and Roger Landis of North Farm in North Lawrence, Ohio. Affectionately known as “Geoffrey,” the stallion is by Winnies Willy and out of Wildly Available. His dam is the mother of Congress and World Champions, Only Rave Reviews, Avalablebyinvitation and She Had Me At Hello.

Makin Me Willy Wild is currently being campaigned by Kenny Lakins in the three-year-old futurities and Junior Western Pleasure. “Geoffrey just keeps getting better and better,” Lakins states. “He has such an amazing presence. He is great minded, very trainable and a pleasure to be around. Debbi Trubee and Roger Landis are also great to work with and I couldn’t ask for better owners.”

Earlier this year, Geoffrey was Circuit Champion in the Junior Western Pleasure and Reserve NSBA Three Year-Old Western Pleasure Champion at the March To The Arch. He was also third at Tom Powers in the Open Three-Year-Old Western Pleasure in a pen of “the best horses I’ve seen go around in a long, long time,” Trubee shares. Geoffrey just recently had a great show at the Buckeye Classic with two firsts and a second in the Junior Western Pleasure showing against a great group of seasoned horses.

“We knew Geoffrey was extra special right from the start,” Trubee remembers. “He was the perfect made baby and when he loped next to his mama, it would just make your jaw drop. The fact that he’s stunning and black was icing on the cake.” (pictured below, Geoffrey as a baby)

Trubee adds, “Geoffrey is absolutely the kindest horse we have ever been around. Roger and I have never had one we raised that we thought as much of as we do Geoffrey. It’s not just his beauty or his movement but his mind and attitude. Geoffrey is our heart horse. We’re so excited to see what he will impart on his babies. Bringing up young stallions has been our passion and we believe that Makin Me Willy Wild will make his stamp on the industry.”

Watch out for Makin Me Willy Wild at the NSBA World Show and Congress with Kenny Lakins.
