The 2018 youth teams will all be recognized August 6 during the Parade of Teams. The 2017 AQHYA year-end high-point winners will also be recognized during the Parade of Teams. All youth teams and youth high-point winners will be honored in front of their peers, friends and family for their accomplishments. The 2018-19 AQHYA Executive Committee and regional directors will also be introduced at this year’s Parade of Teams. New this year, the fashion show will be included during the Parade of Teams, and the Ford Youth World dance will kick off immediately following the Parade of Teams in the Sales Pavilion (Barn 3).

AQHA Professional Horsemen have volunteered their time to give free Ride the Pattern clinics, presented by Nutrena. These free clinics give exhibitors and spectators the perfect opportunity to learn how AQHA Professional Horsemen would approach a class or pattern. Donations will be accepted at each clinic for the Guy Stoops Professional Horsemen’s Family Scholarship Fund. Nutrena will generously match all contributions made at the show, dollar-for-dollar. View the tentative clinic topics, dates and clinicians.

Other events include a church service at 9 a.m. on August 5, followed by The Paws Cause, a dog adoption event at 11 a.m. Both will be held in the Sales Pavilion (Barn 3). Ford Youth World attendees have the opportunity to visit with colleges and universities at the college fair 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on August 6 and 7 in Section 300 in the Jim Norick Arena. Don’t miss the Collegiate Horsemanship Championship prelims on August 6 in the Performance Arena and the finals on August 7 in the Jim Norick Arena. Be sure to cheer on your favorite schools in this head-to-head competition.

Exhibitors, friends and family are also invited to attend an exhibitor party on August 10. Attendees will not only be able to mingle with friends and enjoy a sweet treat, but they will also have the chance to compete in the B&W Trailer Hitch contest and dog race at the exhibitor party.

The $3,000-added open 5D barrel race, open to anyone, returns this year at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, in Barn 8 at State Fair Park. Produced by Tri K Barrels, the race will include a $2,500-added open 5D race, a $500-added AQHA side pot and a variety of AQHA-approved classes, including senior, junior, youth, amateur and Select amateur barrel racing.
