2018 MQHA Harbor Classic Rundown & Kimes Kandids

For multiple years, the Michigan Quarter Horse’s Harbor Classic has been voted ‘Show of the Year’ by its members. And it’s a safe bet to place that this year’s event will be no different.

Sunday through Friday, post-show entertainment took place. Events included a Monday Margarita Night (with kid-friendly slushies), Toddy Tuesday-Wine Night, Wednesday fireworks, exhibitor party, dog races, bonfire, bouncy horse race, volleyball tournament and a euchre tournament.

With over 6,000 entries throughout the week, exhibitors enjoyed a perfect amount of competitive showing with up to eight point open trail classes, six point youth classes, a four point amateur grand geldings, three point western riding classes and were left with enough time to enjoy the evening activities.

“As the 2018 MQHA President, I have been encouraging our show committees to provide social activities for our exhibitors so that there is a focus on bringing people together to have more camaraderie and fun while showing horses,” said MQHA President Meggen Baynes.

“The Harbor Classic show committee did just that. I already have ideas to make our 2019 show even more fun, if that is even possible.”

Another exciting moment of the horse show was crowing the 2018 MQHA Queen. We would like to extend our congratulations to Lauren Barnes as she begins her reign. Joining her in representing MQHA this year is Princess Ava Hathaway and Jr. Princess Callie Giffin.
