MQHA Eggstravaganza Rundown and Candids

The Michigan Quarter Horse Association welcomed the 2018 season with their Easter Eggstravaganza. This top 15 AQHA show proved to be a huge success again with over 5,900 entries.

“The Easter show, held over five days with six judges, was another success with many large classes including a seven point Open Trail class on Wednesday evening. We had exhibitors from Canada, Pennsylvania and Ohio come for the fun and big numbers,” said MQHA President, Meggen Baynes. “The show had some fun extras including the team tournament, Easter activities for the kids, delicious cookies made daily by Julie Tenlen of ‘The Sweet Life,’ light breakfast every morning and free t-shirts to the exhibitors.”

“Our major sponsor, Toledo Ticket Company, provided the circuit awards. Although the weather was mostly on the chilly side, we had weather that allowed for us to utilize the outdoor arenas. The show committee and our show managers, EKG Equine Services, are already planning some adjustments to the schedule for 2019. Thanks to the exhibitors, sponsors, the MQHA Board of Directors, the show committee, the show staff and the judges for a great show.”

Youth President, Lily Atkinson led MQHYA in their famous Easter egg fundraiser that raised over $1,000. The group worked to pack two different kinds of eggs with prizes, engaging in fun and friendship.

EKG Equine Services was back for their second year of managing the show for MQHA. “We’ve been able to make a lot of process improvements in the last year that contributed to a smoother and quicker running show and two early nights for exhibitors,” said Liz and Kurtis Gear, owners of EKG Equine Services.

“The coolest thing for us was seeing our team come together. We’ve brought on several new people over the last year and we couldn’t be happier with their performance. It was a great start to our show season and we can’t wait to see what the rest of 2018 holds.”

EKG also provided a live feed of the show through their Facebook page.
