Kimes Kandids and All-Around Winners from 2018 Dixie Nationals

The Dixie National Quarter Horse Show was held February 13th through 18th in Jackson, Mississippi. This show featured southern hospitality at its best with excellent sized classes, great prizes, fantastic show management and wonderful volunteers who helped run the show. Also known as The Southern Classic, the show offered thousands of dollars in awards and added money, two days of EWD shows, as well as a special roping event.

“The weather could not have been any more perfect minus one wet day,” Mississippi Trainer Shon Gage told us. “I don’t remember in all the years I have been going that I was wearing short sleeves in Jackson, Mississippi in February.”

The 2018 Dixie Nationals had its traditional down home southern hospitality. “We enjoyed good numbers, nice weather and a great staff. Thank you to all the exhibitors who came and participated. Looking forward to an even bigger and better show in 2019,” Show Manager, Casey Devitt stated.

The ranch riding and reining numbers were good with 25 to 30 in most of the ranch riding classes. Tim, “The Trail Man,” was there and ran the trail pen with the help of Millie Thompson. A crowd favorite was the Farman Freestyle Reining on Friday evening. Saturday got underway with the Nutrena educational seminars in the trade mart and was well attended. Sunday, the show concluded with the hunter under saddle and hunt seat equitation in the coliseum and the running events in the equine center.
