Help Legendary Horsewoman Andy Moorman

Fellow Quarter Horse Enthusiast,

Being a part of the horse industry, and particularly the quarter horse industry, carries with it a unique set of distinguishing traits. These traits demand personal character aspects that make our industry more appealing to those of us who consider our horse friends a second family. Like any family, when the time calls for it, we take care of our own. Time is calling for it now.

Andrea “Andy” Moorman has devoted nearly half a century to the quarter horse industry. She has been involved in owning and breeding multiple quarter horses that have won Honor Roll, Congress and World Champion titles… even an AQHA Superhorse. Although she has rarely competed in the arena herself, her enduring legacy will be that of a teacher and coach.

In addition to her own students, she has mentored many successful professionals in our industry. While her horses won much in the arena, her students won far more… and her influence on their lives outside the arena can never be measured in titles and trophies.

Andy’s service to the AQHA began in 1989 on the Youth Committee. Since then, she has served as a director or committee member in eight different capacities for 27 consecutive years.

Her service to the AQHA and her success as a trainer earned her one of the highest accolades of any career… the 1998 AQHA Professional Horsewoman of the Year.

Unfortunately and for some time now, Andy has suffered from a progressive form of dementia. It prevents her from supporting herself and she has been placed in an assisted living facility. She gets lost in both time and place and must live in a safe environment, with oversight, seeing to it that she eats her meals and gets her medication. Andy still has her kind disposition and understands that she doesn’t remember some things. She often repeats herself and will even prepare you for it.

Some of us who have known Andy best have opened a trust fund through the law firm of Blalock Walters located in Sarasota, Florida.

The trust could not have happened without the unselfish and gracious nature of Jenifer Schembri. This was done in order to meet Andy’s needs for the years to come. She will be depending on the generosity of quarter horse “family” members like yourself and many others.

In order to help Andy, your check should be made out to Andy Moorman Support Trust and sent to:

For those of you who prefer, we have a PayPal account available. If you choose to use the PayPal account you will notice Cindy Reddish’s name featured prominently under a picture of Andy. This was necessary in order to save money on processing charges and the legal limitations of the trust.

We fully expect Andy to live for many more years, but when her time on earth passes, the trust directs any remaining funds to be relinquished to the Professional Horseman’s Crisis Fund. Rest assured, any and all of your benevolence will be used judiciously and with wisdom both during and after Andy’s lifetime.

If you love American Quarter Horses, Andy Moorman has benefited your life. Andy’s friends appreciate you benefiting her.

Finally, Andy does not yet know of our efforts to help her and of funding the trust. If you speak to or see her (she is always appreciative of seeing old friends and meeting new ones) please refrain from mentioning the trust. Your discretion and generosity are appreciated beyond words.
