Dixie Nationals Celebrates 20th Year of EWD Show in 2018

JACKSON, MS. – December 16, 2017 – Preparations are underway for the Dixie National Equestrians with Disabilities Show scheduled for February 6 & 7, 2018 at the Kirk Fordice Equine Building, on the State Fairgrounds in Jackson, MS.

This year, our 20th year, will truly be bigger and better than ever before. The show boasts FREE entry fees and no stall fees for exhibitors. All fees are paid by the Mississippi Quarter Horse Youth Association.

We are fortunate to have all four judges donating their services for the event. Others donating their services are announcers, show secretary and the MANY volunteers it takes to put on a horse event.

We will offer four sets of AQHA points, four sets of NSBA points, and new this year, four sets of PHBA points. This will be the best deal yet for equestrians from all over the country to come and join with us in a competitive but yet friendly environment.

Emily Wasson, President of the Mississippi Quarter Horse Youth Association says, “I have been involved with the Equestrians with Disabilities Show for four years, going on my fifth. I look forward to this show every year,” Wasson said. “There is something about seeing these riders face light up when they are given a ribbon or other award. The riders are so appreciative and love being in the show atmosphere.”

Wasson continues, “Whenever I attend the show I always learn something from the guys and gals, whether it be a new joke to tell or just to hear their story and their perspective in the show ring. This show is a favorite for all of our youth association members, we love being able to see how well everyone shows, and how excited all the riders are to get ribbons and other awards.”

Wasson adds, “As the 2018 Equestrians with Disabilities show approaches, I know our show will continue to grow, the riders continue to have fun, and we all learn a little something new. I look forward to seeing familiar faces and welcome any new riders that come to show.”
