AQHA World Show Amateur All-Around Named

During the past two weeks, the top exhibitors and horses from around the world competed at the 2017 Lucas Oil AQHA World Championship Show at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City. The 2017 AQHA All-Around Amateur Award is presented to the exhibitor and horse team that earns the most points in three or more Level 3 amateur events in three categories during the show.This year, 14 contenders qualified to compete for the title.

Johnna Letchworth of Horace, North Dakota, was crowned the 2017 AQHA All-Around Amateur. Letchworth showed her American Quarter Horse, Krymsun Kryptonite. The 2012 brown gelding, by One Hot Krymsun and out of Sweet Talkin Jeannie, was bred by Rick Meredith of Granbury, Texas. The pair earned 40 points. They placed third in amateur hunt seat equitation and amateur horsemanship, fifth in amateur performance halter geldings, eighth in amateur showmanship and were finalists in amateur trail.

Letchworth received $15,000, an original Lisa Perry bronze and a specially embroidered blanket, courtesy of Horseware of Ireland.

Scott Allen Reinartz of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, earned the title of Reserve All-Around Amateur. Reinartz showed his American Quarter Horse, Investin A Goodbar. The 2009 sorrel gelding, who is by Ima Zippo Good Bar and out of Foxy Asset, was bred by Jim Dudley of Columbia, Missouri. The pair earned 28.5 points. They earned the reserve world champion titles in amateur pleasure driving and amateur trail, placed 10th in amateur horsemanship, and were finalists in amateur performance halter geldings and amateur showmanship.

Reinartz received $5,000, a silver bowl and specially embroidered blanket, courtesy of Horseware of Ireland.

Placing third was Lindsey Wilt-Perotti of Shelbina, Missouri. Wilt-Perotti showed the American Quarter Horse Zip Up My Blumers, owned by Lori Wilt of Shelbina, Missouri. The 2010 brown mare, by Too Sleepy To Zip and out of Blumers, was bred by Kyle Simmons of Marshall, Texas. Wilt-Perotti and Zip Up My Blumers earned a total of 19 points and placed fourth in amateur working hunter and amateur pleasure driving, seventh in amateur hunter hack and were finalists in amateur performance halter mares.

Placing fourth was Julie Cole of Burlington Flats, New York. Cole showed her American Quarter Horse Size Matters. The 2005 sorrel gelding, by Natural Iron and out of Bostons Black Pearl, was bred by Christine Davis of Bainbridge, New York. Cole and Size Matters earned a total of 17 points. The pair earned the reserve world championship title in amateur hunt seat equitation, placed seventh in amateur jumping and were finalists in amateur equitation over fences and amateur working hunter.

Placing fifth was Daniel Carlson of Sheffield, Massachusetts. Carlson showed the American Quarter Horse Made By Charlie, owned and bred by Patricia Carlson of Sheffield, Massachusetts. Made By Charlie is a 2012 sorrel mare by Machine Made and out of Are You Charlie. Carlson and Made By Charlie earned a total of 11 points. The pair placed seventh in amateur showmanship and performance halter mares and were finalists in amateur western riding.

The third- through fifth-place All-Around Amateur finalists received $1,500.
