Paul Taylor Passes at 87

“Heaven has gained a great man, husband and father. They don’t make them like him anymore. The Grapevine Sale Barn is already up and running again in Heaven.”

This quote was posted on Paul Taylor’s Saddle Company Facebook page after his passing.  His obituary and funeral arrangements are posted below.

Paul Ray Taylor, 87, of Pilot Point, TX, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 in Denton, TX.  He was born January 23, 1930 in Gould, AR to Miles Reeves and Minnie (Lightner) Taylor.  Paul married Anna Marie Allred on December 13, 1971 in Durant, OK. Paul is survived by his wife, Anna of Pilot Point, TX; four sons, Guy Taylor and wife Charlotte of Ben Wheeler, TX, Pat Taylor and wife Lisa of Pilot Point, TX, David Snowden and wife Kayla of Allen, TX, Michael Snowden and wife Catherine of Ruidoso, NM; seven grandchildren, Steve Taylor, Jeff Taylor, Jeffrey Snowden, Jason Snowden, Jessica Snowden, Erin Snowden, and Tyler Taylor; five great-grandchildren; sister, LaDell Jordan of Bowie, TX; three nieces; one nephew; and his dog, Sobi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Miles and Minnie; brother, Ray Lee Bowman; and two sisters, Drucella and Ivy Belle.

A Celebration of Life for Paul will be held at 2:00PM, Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Paul Redfearn Gym (8030 Hwy 377) in Aubrey, TX.  A reception will follow the service until 5:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to; First United Methodist Church Aubrey, Tx or Noah’s Arc Animal Shelter Gainesville,TX.

Paul Taylor, a livestock auctioneer from Irving, Texas, began Paul Taylor Saddle Co. in 1957 by selling merchandise out of his cargo trailer en route to auctions. In the early 1980’s, he purchased his dream property near Pilot Point, Texas and in 1985 he and his wife, Anna, opened Paul Taylor Saddle Co. at its current location.
