10 Things You Probably Don’t Know about Libby Rinder

The next exhibitor in our popular series, 10 Things You Probably Don’t Know About Me, is Amateur, Libby Rinder of Middletown, Connecticut. Libby is currently showIng her horse, Hot Rockin Potential (Sonny), in the Amateur Trail and Western Riding.

Libby, who rides under the guidance of her longtime trainer, Whitney Lagace of HIgganum, Connecticut, shows Hot Rockin Potential in the senior classes. In 2010, Lagace and Sonny won the AQHA World Championship in the Junior Trail. “Sonny is truly one-of-a-kind. I love and respect that horse,” Whitney says.

Earlier this year, Libby and Sonny won the circuit championships in the Level 3 Amateur Trail at the Redbud Spectacular and Big A.

“I’d say what is great about him is that he really loves his job and enjoys going out and showing. He really gives his all when you step in the pen,” Rinder shares. “He’s an extremely kind horse and super mellow, which makes him really easy to be around and great to work with. He knows that the better he is, the less work he has to do.”

Rinder also started showing I Dance In the Dark in the Amateur Trail. Earlier this week, this pair won the Non-Pro 4 to 6 year-old Trail at the 2017 NSBA World Show.

We congratulate Libby on having an outstanding show season so far.

1. I’m an only child.

2. My family has three standard poodles. We’ve always had three ever since I was born and I’m planning on getting my own this summer.

3. I’m a total foodie. I like just about every type of cuisine out there and I’m always up for trying something new.

4. I’ve been with my trainer, Whitney Lagace, for going on 18 years now. I was seven when I started taking lessons with her. I fell off during the first lesson with her and she thought I was never coming back.

5. I’m a shoe addict. I have to restrain myself from going shoe shopping online, otherwise, I will inevitably buy at least one pair.

6. I get bored if I’m in one place too long, hence, showing horses is perfect for me since I get to travel so much. There’s always another show right around the corner.

7. I’ve broken my wrist four times, twice was in the exact same spot almost exactly a year apart.

8. I started working for a financial advising firm during college and got licensed as a financial advisor after graduating. I’m now an associate at Beacon Wealth Advisors in Boston.

9. My guilty pleasure is watching Bravo and the Real Housewives. I have my weekly schedule, and I watch it religiously.

10. I’m a movie buff. I love just about every genre of movie…except for horror.

Thanks Libby for sharing more about your life outside of horses.
