The Rock Candids and Rundown from Gordyville Shootout

The Gordyville Shootout took place this past weekend at Gordyville USA, July 13-16th. The judges included Rick Christy, Dolly Chayer, Jackie Krshka, Tina Anderson, Sissy Anderson and Jim Edwards.

The Highlights of the July show are always the $1,000 added Western Pleasure Shootout and the $1,000 added Showmanship Shootout. In order to qualify for either shootout, you must place 1st or 2nd in the class, any division during the previous year at Gordyville.

The Western Pleasure Event took place on Friday morning with 16 exhibitors. Tanya Relander and her sorrel mare, Certainly Shez Hot, took the top prize as the Shootout Champions. Tanya and Lilly are having a successful year having just won the Reserve Championship at the Tom Powers Futurity in the Maturity Non Pro 10K Limited Western Pleasure.

Tanya said her mare is super talented and a good teacher. “She rewards me when I do it right,” Tanya said. Tanya’s prizes include $250, a custom set of silver spurs donated by Gordyville and Pards Western Shop, a $50 closet Space Gift Certificate, a Gordyville Champion Horse Sheet donated by the Tack Room, a Gordyville slinky and a Full Page Ad in GoMag. Stacey Ann Theiman-Wright and Hubbas Cool Cash were the Reserve Western Pleasure Shootout Champions.

Nya Kearns and Earn An Invitation won the Showmanship Shootout in a deep field of 34 qualified entries on Saturday. Nya and Ernie are a new team showing in the All Around events and had their first show together in late May. Nya said that she has become very attached to Ernie in a short time and that they have learned a lot together already. They are currently putting in practice time preparing for the AQHYA World Show.

“It was a great honor to win the Shootout at Gordyville,” said Nya. Like many exhibitors I talked to, she expressed her gratitude to the Hannagan/Gordyville family for putting on such a wonderful event. Nya’s prizes include $250, a Custom Silver Halter donated by Gordyville and Pards Western Shop, a Gordyville Champion Horse Sheet donated by the Tack Room, a Gordyville Slinky and a Full Page ad in GoMag. Elizabeth Forney and One Hot Big Leaguer were the Reserve Showmanship Shootout Champions.
