About the Cover

The gorgeous stallion, Mechanic, is featured on the February stallion issue of GoMag. The seven-year-old, 16.1 hand AQHA stallion is by Good Machine and out of Zippin Thru Town. He is owned by Sandra Morgan of Langley, British Columbia.

“His first foal crop is two-year-olds, and many of them will be hitting the show pen this year,” says, Mechanic’s breeding manager, Stephen Stephens of Dry River Ranch. “We are really excited about his babies. They are big bodied, strong, and great minded. They all have beautiful heads and necks, and he throws a small muzzle with wide eyes. He also throws a big hock and foals with a lot of substance.”

Stephens credits the Smooth Town breeding at the bottom of Mechanic’s pedigree as one of the reasons he is throwing such powerful babies with huge stifles. “I have never seen foals look like this from the get-go,” Stephens states. “At birth, their stifles are already well developed. They all seem strong enough to handle the training and have long show careers.”

If he were a human, Stephens says, “Mechanic would be the handsome big burly guy that doesn’t know he is so handsome. He is a real humble soul. He looks like a mixture of Brad Pitt and Arnold Schwarzenegger with the extra bonus that he is very agile.”

Stephens says that even when Mechanic was a two-year-old, he immediately stood out. “To be a Reserve Congress Champion as a two-year-old at 16 hands, and, then, as a three-year-old to win the nation in the western pleasure and place in the Top 10 at the AQHA World Show was always impressive to me. Then, as a four-year-old, he went on to win the Congress in the Green Hunter Under Saddle after only being shown twice ever in a hunt seat class.”

Stephens adds, “He is just so athletic and versatile. We can’t wait to see his babies in the show arena!”

Mechanic’s breeding fee is $1,500 with special consideration given to top producing mares and past clients. Contact Stephen Stephens for more information at 817-304-1198 or visit Dry River Ranch’s website at www.dryriverranch.com.
