Last weekend, No. 3 South Carolina upset No. 1 Georgia to win the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) National Championship. Many of the girls who competed in Waco honed their skills while showing in AQHA or APHA as a youth. They will be the first to tell you that saying goodbye to the ol’ show horse and the beloved show scene is a daunting thought for a youth competitor. Thanks to the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association and the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (formerly Varsity Equestrian), showing doesn’t have to wait until college graduation day.
These organizations offer student exhibitors the chance to continue honing their riding skills and enjoy competition close to the college classroom.
