Dakota Wants You to Win A Harley Davidson

After receiving a “Harley-Davidson” leather jacket as a Christmas gift from one of my trainers, Rick Skelly, a few years ago, I have to admit that I was hooked on the brand. When well known halter horse trainer, Greg Holden approached me later about purchasing a potential performance gelding, I was a little skeptical until he told me the horse was named for a famous Harley-Davidson motorcycle!! “Mr Screamin Eagle” (named for the Screamin’ Eagle Harley) turned out to be pretty lucky for me, as we won the AQHA High Point open performance gelding title in 2010. As the 2011 Ohio Quarter Horse Youth President, it seemed like a logical fit when our organization decided to raffle off a Harley-Davidson motorcycle as our major fundraiser in 2011. Totally DDG, right?

Something about Harleys and horses just seems to fit. With many of the major trainers and owners enjoying a Harley as their “second ride”, you have to admit that the whole Harley raffle thing is soooo cool. Thanks to our GoHorseShow.com friends and advertisers, Jim and Julie Brown, (owners of Finks Harley-Davidson in Zanesville, Ohio), the whole concept of the raffle has become a reality!

With 19 years of experience in the Harley-Davidson business, the Brown family pointed out that what separates Harley-Davidson from other motorcycle brands is that the name is synonymous with masculinity, power, and the “ultimate cool”. Whether you have been riding for years, or are just a Rookie, the XL883 black Sportster is suitable for both men and women, which made it the perfect choice for our raffle bike. Hey girls, women love “masculine” too. I don’t know about you ladies, but I can totally see myself on this amazing ride, or sitting on the back with a potential Congress hottie – LOL! Although this bike is all metal, Julie points out that it makes a great choice for owners who appreciate balanced handling as it is lighter than it looks!

Many of our loyal readers are familiar with Brown’s adorable daughter, Emma who is a popular advertiser in GoMag, along with her “hottie” trainer, Brian Cox. For any of you who have admired the Harley’s in Brian’s ads, Finks can fix you up too by visiting their store just 50 minutes east of Congress, or by contacting them at http://www.finkshd.com. Just ask horse show competitor Jeff Drennan who purchased his 2010 Screamin Eagle Street Glide from them!

In the meantime, for a mere $10.00 per ticket, I’d be happy to pass on some of my “Harley” good luck to a potential winner by personally selling you that lucky raffle ticket! If you aren’t so fortunate to drive away with the “Sportster” at Congress, a lucky second place winner will receive $1000, and the third place winner walks away with $500! So what are you waiting for – can’t you totally see yourself on this gorgeous bike? Anyone interested in purchasing raffle tickets can contact me directly at dakotadiamondgriffith@yahoo.com , or at a major show near you! The tickets make a fun gift idea too! Remember, the proceeds benefit a great youth cause!!
