Seventeen-year-old
Katie Jo Jones may have been widely absent from the show pen for the past two
years, but she is happy to say, “Not any longer!” This past September, Katie Jo
purchased Mostly Chocolate, fondly known as “Chuckie” from Katherine Tobin after
placing third in Western Riding and fourth in Trail at the 2009 Select World
Championship Show.
Katie Jo
immediately fell in love with “Chuckie” and quickly realized how talented he is
in all of her favorite events. After owning him for just a month, they placed
7th at the Congress in the highly competitive 15-18 Trail. Under the direction
of Bruce and Cindy Walquist, the pair has earned 20 AQHA Youth All-Around
titles as well as a Superior in Youth Trail. Katie Jo is looking forward
to the 2010 Youth World and is Nationally Qualified in five events; Trail,
Horsemanship, Western Riding, Equitation and Performance Halter Geldings.
Katie Jo will be a
freshman at Furman University in the fall. Watch for this very promising team
as they hope to accomplish great things in years to come.
