What has two equal sides and a bottom twice as long as its top? Trick question. There are two answers. A trapezoid and a horse with perfectly balanced conformation. Those involved with evaluating horses recognize this ideal build as having a trapezoid shape. The horse’s underline is twice as long as the back, the top line should be level from the withers to the croup and the horse should have a sloping shoulder balanced with strong hind quarters.

Gumz Farms will stand A Scenic Impulse for the 2011 Breeding Season, along with Rodrock's other stallions, Only In the Moonlite, and Certain Potential. Pictured here (left to right) Amy Gumz, Darol and Karen Rodrock. Photo © GoHorseShow.com

Top APHA stallion, A Scenic Impulse, was purchased by Darol Rodrock from the MacDonald/Hachtel Partnership a few months ago. Rodrock wanted to add a top quality paint pleasure stallion to his already incredible selection of breeding stallions. It appears to have been a very smart move on the part of this top pleasure horse breeder. A Scenic Impulse was the Reichert Celebration Champion of the $90,000 Color Classic in 2004, and he is already the sire of back to back champions of the 2 Year Old Color Classic.

Down The Rail stands six of the best AQHA stallions; Zips Chocolate Chip, Chips Hot Chocolate, Radical Rodder, Radical Revolution, A Sudden Vantage and Dress Western.

For many in the breeding business, this is the best time of the year. The vast majority of babies are born in March and April and breeders and owners can begin to see the results of their program.  Thank you Suzy Jeane of Down The Rail in Valley View, Texas who sent us baby pictures to share.

Good Cowboy Margarita
When Brian and Dawn Baker first saw Cowboy as a yearling, they knew they couldn’t leave without him.

“Who the heck is THAT?” Brian Baker heard that a lot when Good Cowboy Margarita first hit the show scene. People were compelled to find out more about this young stallion not only because of his movie star good looks but also because of his effortless way of moving. He epitomizes the ideal, natural western pleasure horse that NSBA and AQHA enthusiasts are drawn to.
