Having earned the reputation as “The Innovator” when it comes to horse shows, the Reichert Celebration has done it again. The newest classes to be added to their widely popular slot class program are 3 and 4 Year Old Open Trail and a Non Pro Trail.
The Barnes family of Northbrook, Illinois, said good-bye to its longtime equine family member, Zippos Ace Of Spades, on Friday, February 5. “Ace,” a two-time AQHA World Championship Show all-around amateur horse, was euthanized due to complications from laminitis. Zippos Ace Of Spades accomplishments included numerous all-around titles, high-points, Superior awards and more than 4,500 AQHA points in everything from showmanship to western pleasure.

Mark your calendars in May and September to attend Washington State Quarter Horse Association's shows in Monroe, Washington. Located just outside of Seattle, these two AQHA circuits averaged 2,000 total entries, making them among the five largest quarter horse circuits held on the west coast in 2009. The September show is home to the Northwest Emerald circuit which last year awarded in excess $30,000 in cash and prizes.

In almost any riding class, a good lope or canter departure will lead to a better execution of your maneuver. A good lope departure is when a horse responds to a minimal cue from the rider with willingness and collection. AQHA judge and all-around trainer Leonard Berryhill tells us how to get your horse to do correct lope departures with minimal cues.
NSBA announces "ShowPerks Rewards" program, which allows NSBA members to earn rewards and redeem them at the NSBA "ShowPerks Rewards" website. The "ShowPerks Rewards" program provides a point for point match in each dual approved class and reward points will be awarded to the owner of the horse. Rewards points are redeemable for NSBA merchandise at the "ShowPerks Rewards" website.

Many of us have watched countless classes at the horse show but some classes have left a bigger impression on us than others.
