Gavin Patterson’s Picture of the Day from the 2016 Congress

Hi, my name is Gavin Patterson and I am from Frankfort, Ohio. I’m here in Columbus for the 50th annual All American Quarter Horse Congress with my horse, She Will Be Hot, more commonly known as Adele. While here, Adele and I will be showing in western pleasure maturities, NYATT Western Pleasure for Team Ohio, and Youth Western Pleasure 15-18. She will also be shown by my trainers Ty and Karen Hornick and their assistant trainer, Lauren Louw.

Everyone at the Hornick barn is excited to show and we would like to wish everyone the best of luck! Stay tuned for my pictures of the day from the show for GoHorseShow.

Today’s picture of the day is of Olivia Tordoff, Lauren Carnahan, Alexis Taylor, Karly Goff, and myself kissing our NYATT trophies that team Ohio won. I chose this one because it was nice to see team Ohio and Team Southern Ohio come out champions and reserve champions on our 50th Anniversary.

Just like our OQHYA shirts say show here, “Win Here, Win Anywhere!”

Special shout out to our great advisors Valerie Sturgeon and Tammy Gaglardo. Thanks for all that you have done for us this year. Also, congratulations to all of the other teams!

This is my picture of the day. This is my NYATT team, Team Ohio. Pictured above is Anna Ritzi, Lauren Carnahan, Ellexah Maxwell, Caleb Sturgeon, Olivia Tordoff, Alexis Taylor, Ashton Krutulis, and our youth advisor, Valerie Sturgeon. I chose this as my picture of the day because Saturday is the NYATT competition. Team Ohio is ready to go, and we would like to wish all the rest of the teams good luck!

I chose this picture because today we got a taste of the Congress weather we all missed. It poured down rain, and it was freezing out so the best thing to do today was to go and shop.

This is Erin Mask and Only Classic Chips (left) and Paulina Martz and Onlythebestchocolate (right), your 2016 Champion and Reserve Congress Champions respectively in Youth Performance Halter Mares. I chose this picture because they went back and forth for first and second on the judges’ cards. Then, when the two were left, we were all still trying to figure out who won it. I like it when there is healthy competition like this and you never know, even after the placings, who will come out on top.

Darcy and Vino share a sweet moment after his Senior Western Pleasure win with Karen Hornick. Darcy and Vino have had much success and this was an amazing win for the team as he is retiring next month. A Certain Vino has won the Senior Western Pleasure at the Congress five times and this is his 29th Congress Championship. He is described by Karen as, “Dennis The Menace.” He is always getting into things and causing trouble. Vino also has a preference for Darcy and Karen and those appear to be his humans. Other people involved Vino’s life says he “likes to terrorize them.” He is truly a legend and there never will be another like him.
