Alex Ross, AQHA Senior Director of Judges Retires

Alex Ross will retire as the American Quarter Horse Association’s senior director of judges and stewards on December 31, 2016. Ross will continue to assist the AQHA judging program in the future to ensure a smooth and successful transition for the new senior director of judges.

“Alex has truly been an asset to the American Quarter Horse Association,” said Pete Kyle, AQHA chief show officer. “The Association is grateful for the strong leadership demonstrated by Alex through the years, and we are very fortunate to have him as a mentor to the new senior director of judges and to share his knowledge.”

Ross was hired in January 2004 and was responsible for determining and formulating policies/procedures and to provide overall direction of AQHA judges and stewards within guidelines set up by the AQHA executive vice president, executive committee, and chief show officer. Ross was also in charge of planning, directing and coordinating operational activities related to judges and stewards at a high level of management with the help of subordinate staff.

“Over the past 13 years, it has been an honor for me to work with the AQHA executive committee, staff and, of course, the judges and stewards,” said Ross. “Moving ahead, I look forward to spending more time with my family and horseback, while assisting AQHA if needed.”
