Searles Family’s Beloved Mare, AQHA World Champion, Luv To Zip Passes

GoHorseShow is sad to report the passing of AQHA World Champion mare, Luv To Zip. She was 26 years-old. “Precious” was by Zippo Pine Bar and out of Miss Super A Ward and bred by Lynn and Peter Larson of Sonoma, California.

The talented mare was loved by the Searles family of Scottsdale, Arizona for the past 11 years. Precious is also the horse credited with teaching Jim and Deanna Searles’ children, Taylor and Trent how to ride. Jim’s mother, Marylou and Luv To Zip won the 2004 AQHA World Championship in the Amateur Select Western Riding. The next year Precious and Marylou were Reserve Champions in the Amateur Select Western Riding and third in the Amateur Select Horsemanship.

“Taylor and I were featured in AQHA’s advertising the year I won my AQHA World Championship with Precious,” Marylou told us. “It is a picture that they have been using for years. I am holding Taylor on my lap.” (pictured below right)

-1“Taylor was three when she began to ride Precious, and she rode her in walk trot at Congress. Trent also learned walk trot on her. She was like riding on a couch, but her personality was the best. She was 26 and for the past few years was Allocate Your Assets’ best girlfriend.”

Marylou adds, “Everybody that knew her loved her. One little note was that Jim and Deanna helped put the western riding on her when she was about three. They helped another trainer, and I guess good deeds pay off because we were able to buy her and she became a family member.”

Luv To Zip amassed 455.5 points and was a dam of two foals, one performing. Al About Luv was by Allocate Your Assets and accumulated over 100 points in the hunter under saddle and equitation.

Our condolences go out to the Searles Family and everyone who loved this great mare.
