Gone Too Soon: Multiple Congress Champion Cee Money Euthanized

We are heartbroken to report that multiple Congress Champion Cee Money was humanely euthanized on Tuesday, May 17th due to complications associated with navicular disease. He was seven years-old. The gorgeous brown gelding was by Watch My Potential and out of Im One Tuff Cookie and bred by Dr. Lucious Randle, Jr of Houston, Texas. “Money” was loved and shown by Dan Yeager of Dallas, Texas.

“It is much harder to talk about this than I had anticipated,” Yeager told us on Wednesday morning about the passing of his beloved gelding. “Money was by far one of the most talented horses on the show circuit, and I was lucky to have owned him. He was a sweet quirky horse who was always excited to see me. When I would go to the barn and call his name, he would whinny. We shared a close bond which isn’t always the case with some horses. He will be sorely missed.”

-1Yeager bought the gelding prior to the 2013 Congress from Washington state trainers, Mike and May Edwards. Over the past few years, Cee Money won many big prizes for Yeager. The 2015 All-American Quarter Horse Congress was an incredible show for the team who won the Select Amateur All-Around, Select Amateur Showmanship for the second straight year and the Select Amateur Horsemanship. Yeager told us that winning the Amateur Select All-Around at the Congress was by far his favorite and most memorable win with the gelding.

Earlier in 2015, Yeager and Money were named NSBA World Champions in the Amateur Select Showmanship and won the bronze trophy at the 2014 AQHA Select Amateur World Show in the western pleasure. They were also back-to-back Reserve Congress Champions in the Novice Amateur Western Pleasure  in 2013 and 2014.

-5In 2014, Cee Money was Reserve Limited Maturity Congress Champions with Brad Ost in the saddle and in 2013,  was Top 5 at the AQHA World Show in the Junior Western Pleasure. In his short life, he amassed over 700 AQHA points, six Superiors and an AQHA Championship.

Yeager’s trainers, Charlie Cole and Jason Martin of Highpoint Performance Horses shared their thoughts about the gelding. “Money was an incredibly talented and beautiful horse. He had a quirky, yet kind personality. Dan and Money were a great team, and I was really looking forward to this year’s Select World with them,” Cole said.

Jason Martin adds, “Money was a great show horse; he always stepped up at the big shows and he and Dan were a team to be reckoned with. I will miss watching them in the show arena together.”
